Answer:

Explanation:

BromoEthane (CH3CH2Br) -----> Ethane (CH3CH3)

Add HBr into the solution to Gain H+ and Br- .

Br- will attack on CH2Br bond as it is electron rich. After breaking of the bond we get Br+ and CH3CH2–.

Because H+Br- is still present in the medium it reacts with newly formed cations and anions giving : Br2 and CH3CH3 .

(As CH3CH2– has a negative charge and HBr on breaking gives H+ and Br- . Also Br- and Br+ combine to become Br2)

Answer:

It is usually prepared by the addition of HBr to ethene: H2C=CH2 + HBr → H3C-CH2Br. Bromoethane is inexpensive and would rarely be prepared in the laboratory. A laboratory synthesis includes reacting ethanol with a mixture of hydrobromic and sulfuric acids.
