rationalize the denominator

 \frac{2 \times  \sqrt{2} }{ \sqrt{2 } \times  \sqrt{2}  }

 =  \frac{2 \sqrt{2} }{2}

2 gets cancelled leaving behind √2

 =  \sqrt{2}
