A cave is a natural underground space in a hillside or cliff. Or else it is a hollow place in the ground. It is formed due to various geologic processes. Caves can be of different sizes.

While a stable is a building where horses or any other livestock are kept. It refers to a building which has separate stalls for individual animals.
