How is a democracy more effective than authoritarian governments in dealing with conflicting nationalist aspirations?

  -Minority groups cannot survive in an authoritarian government as the government will obviously create an oppressive authority society,thus leads to the rise of the dominance of the majority  which creates rise unto nationalist aspiration among other groups in such situations.
-The rights and cultural identity of the minorities is respected in a democratic governments and can solve conflicting nationalist aspiration by taking decision through consensus that is quit beneficial to all groups which stay inside a democratic set up.
-Democratic government owes respect to the people's opinion and provide opportunity and rights to every cultural group to flourish.
-It provides a structure for all groups to express the aspirations,as all cultural groups including those in minorities have the opportunity to be represented at the highest levels of decision making in democratic set up.
