a flatterer pretends to be your friend and tries to impress you this can be positive and equally negative.
but a genuine friend will be realistic towards you and will not pretend anything .

A friend is different from a flatter becoz a flatterer always praises you if you have wherewith to spend on them and a true friend never really praises you but tell u some mistakes from which you can improve next time and do the same more sincerely
