A globe is the only accurate way to study the whole Earth.
A globe is more accurate than a flat map because it mimics the true shape of the Earth and is able to accurately portray continent shapes and distance between landmasses. A map, which attempts to create a flat rendering of a round planet, distorts continent shapes and sizes.
The advantage of the globe is that it promotes visual accuracy. Students use a globe frequently to form accurate ‘mental maps’.

By giving you a 3d representation of the object. Flat maps don’t help as much because of the distortion of projecting a 3d surface onto a 2D object.

One is theequator, running east and west around the middle of the globe, dividing it into two equal halves. The other is the prime meridian, an imaginary line running from pole to pole and cutting through Greenwich, a section of London, England. Both of these lines are 0º andthe globe numbering system starts at the point where they intersect.
