The rainbow is an arch of seven colors visible in the sky which is produced by the dispersion of light by rain drops in atmosphere.
The rain drops in the atmosphere act like many small prisms. As sunlight enters and leaves these raindrops, the various colored rays present in white light are refracted by different amounts due to which an arch of seven colors called rainbow in formed in sky.
