Answer:

A shehnai is usually refereed to as an improved version of a pungi. Pungi has a shrill and unpleasant sound, whereas, a shehnai has a very melodious and soft sound. Pungi were considered to be a very bad omen while the shehnai is played on auspicious occasions. It has seven holes on its body with a natural hollow stem, which is longer as well as broader than that of a pungi.
