How is a subject important in photography?
Answers
Narrow down the options and shoot just one. If the others are important then feature them in their own images. It's better to take three images each with its own subject than to take one in which no one can identify the subject. The focal point is vitally important, as it draws the eye.
Duh… Everybody knows that a subject in the photo is very important… Why are you telling me that, Lui?
Well… The truth is that a lot of people forget it, I do too sometimes. Or I can’t with 100% certainty say that they forget it, but I can say that they don’t show the subject/emphasise it well enough in the photo.
I see it all the time in different Amateur Photograpy Facebook groups. I see images all the times, that doesn’t make the subject pop, or make it clear within seconds what the subject is. The images just doesn’t look interesting.
I’m still learning everyday and first really thought about the importance of subject yesterday. I went out to take photos in the streets of Stockholm yesterday, but I didn’t really like my images i brought home. I realized it was because the subject in each image got lost in the photo.
I saw interesting stuff around the city, as I was walking, but I forgot to think “this is what I want to show.” And you could feel that in the images.
