How is acetyl-coa transported from the mitochondria to the cytosol for fatty acid synthesis?

This occurs via the conversion of pyruvate into acetyl-CoA in themitochondrion. However, this acetyl CoA needs to be transported intocytosol where the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol occurs. This cannot occur directly. ... There it is cleaved by ATP citrate lyase intoacetyl-CoA and oxaloacetate.
