When the food exists from stomach it's medium is acidic and as the food enters into the small intestine (duodenum) . Two types of digestive juice enters into duodenum i.e. pancreatic juice from pancreas and bile juice from liver. They are alkaline in nature. So they change the medium of food from acidic to alkaline.

Hope this helps you...

The acidic medium in the small intestine is converted into Alkaline for pancreatic enzymes by the action of bile juice secreted by liver.
