ALUM ISUSED AS A FLOCCULANT TO REMOVE UNWANTED COLOUR AND TURBIDITY FROM WATER SUPPLIES. IT HAS BEENUSED SINCE ANCIENT TIMES FOR THIS PURPOSE AND ITS USE TOGETHER WITH FILTRATION IS STANDARD PRACTICE IN CONVENTIONAL WATER TREATMENTPROCESSES AROUND THE WORLD.
