How is alveoli designed in human beings to minimise the air for exchange of gases

Alveoli are rich in blood capillaries , oxygen from air diffuses into the blood and reaches to all the cells and tissue of body this oxygen now diffuses into the cell and is utilised for the oxidation of food and production of energy in mitochondria

♤ In the lungs, the air passage that divides into smaller and smaller tubes called bronchi which form bronchioles .

♤ The bronchioles terminate in the balloon like structure called alveoli.

♤ The alveoli present in the lungs provide maximum surface for exchange of gases.

♤ The alveoli have very thin walls and contain an extensive network of blood vessels to facilitate exchange of gases.
