Primary alcohols and aldehydes are normally oxidized to carboxylic acids using potassium dichromate(VI) solution in the presence of dilute sulfuric acid. .
The conversion of ethanol into ethanoic acid would be a typical example.

Alcohol is converted into carbosylic acid through oxidation reaction !!
Example - ethanol + acidified potassium permagante (oxidising agent) --------> ethanoic acid
