Electricity and magnetism are closely related phenomena and one proof of this is that when electricity flows through a conductor, it produces a magnetic field around it, thus making the conductor behave as a magnetic object as long as the current flows through it. An electromagnet is an object that exploits this inter relation between the two. We can make one by wrapping an iron rod (known as core) with copper or any other conducting wire and pass electric current though it. This is called a solenoid and acts as an electromagnet.

• When the current passes through
