The air that flows in and around the buildings plays an important role in how the buildings structure is designed. A tall building is engineered in such a way that it oscillates to and fro so that fatigue does not strike any of the main members.

Bernoulli's Principle decides what speed this air will flow causing the oscillation and hence to keep the speeds moderate, buildings are usually built in pairs (especially the tall ones) to command over the air.

It is done by controlling the distance between the two buildings, lesser the distance lesser the area, more will be the velocity of air flowing through and vise versa.
