To convert bromoethane into ethyl carbylamine,bromoethane is made to react with AgCN. As AgCN is a covalent compound,hence Ag restricts Carbon to show nucleophilic activity as it is bonded covalently with Ag. Hence the less nucleophilic nitrogen atom's(as compared to carbon) lone pair attacks the haloge holding carbon in bromoethane. As a result N-C bond is formed and the product is thus ethyl carbylamine(C2H5NC).
