How is ‘cast iron’ different from ‘pig iron”?

The iron obtained from blast furnaces is known as pig iron. ...Cast iron is obtained by melting pig iron and coke using a hot air blast. It contains a lower amount of carbon (3%) than pig iron. Unlike pig iron, cast iron is extremely hard and brittle.

Hey !!

Answer = The iron obtained from blast furnance is called pig iron. It contains 4% carbon and many other impurities in smaller amount.

Example :- S , P , Si , Mn

Cast iron is different from pig iron and is made by melting pig iron with scrap iron and coke using hot air balst. It has slightly lower carbon content (about 3%) and is extremely hard.
