Chemistry is classified into five different branches as follows:
(1) Organic chemistry : This is the study of the properties and reactions of compounds of carbon.
(2) Inorganic chemistry : This is the study of all substances which are not organic.
(3) Physical chemistry : This is the study of principles underlying chemistry. It involves the studies of properties of matter atoms, molecules and fundamental concepts in chemistry.
(4) Biochemistry : This involves the study of the chemistry of living organisms, the structure and function of their chemical components.
(5) Analytical chemistry : The branch of chemistry which deals with the study of separation, identication, qualitative and quantitative deter- mination of the compositions of different substances is called analytical chemistry

Traditionally, chemistry has been broken into five main subdisciplines: Organic, Analytical, Physical, Inorganic, and Biochemistry
Organic chemistry is a sub-field of chemistry that involves studying the molecules of life.
Analytical chemistry is the science of identification and quantification of materials in a mixture.
Physical chemistry is the study of the fundamental physical principles that govern the way that atoms, molecules, and other chemical systems
Inorganic chemistry is commonly thought of as those areas within chemistry that do not deal with carbon.
Biochemistry is the study of the chemical principles underlying basic biological systems.
