Chloride of lime is calcium oxychloride also known as bleaching powder. Calcium chloride is an inorganic salt of calcium. Calcium oxychloride loses its chlorine on exposure to air because carbon dioxide present in air reacts with it to evolve chlorine gas, but calcium chloride doesn't evolve chlorine gas.

CaOCl_2(s) + CO_2(g) ----> CaCO_3(s) + Cl_2(g)

Calcium oxychloride is also an oxidizing agent. It also used in water treatment plant.
