Global Warming is an event that describes the constant warming of the earth. It is a severe problem - a climatic change. To understand that why global warming is a climatic change, we have to understand what happens in Global Warming. The heat from the sun comes to the Earth's surface while the process, some heat is reflected away and some heat is absorbed by certain gases in the lower part of the Earth's atmosphere. This process is called the Greenhouse effect. The sun's heat contains harmful rays called UV(UltraViolet) rays, thatswhy, for protection - the Earth's atmosphere has a UV ray blocking layer called the Ozone layer. But, nowadays, because of us - humans, the ozone layer is slowly getting depleted. As the ozone layer depletes, it allows UV rays to gets into the earth, causing different problems for the environment. One such big problem is the increase of heat(Global Warming) that results in melting of the poles, and change in weather and climate. So, thatswhy it is a climatic change.
As the ozone layer depletes, more UV is coming into the earth and warming it up. Ozone is depleted because of some certain gases called the greenhouse gases, so, accordingly, it can be said that Global Warming is increasing because of the greenhouse gases.
In regard to your second question, if we can reduce the amount of greenhouse gases produced, then we can probably slow down the rate of Global warming.
* CFCs
- In industries, an artificial gas called CFC is produced. CFCs are the main gases which deplete the Ozone layer. They are used as a cooling agent in refrigerators and air-conditioners and as a propellant gas in spray cans. CFCs are released when we use spray cans or when we dispose of styrofoam products and old electrical appliances that contain CFCs as cooling agents in them. When CFCs are released, they rise in the atmosphere and react with the Ozone gas, therefore breaking it down. Banning their use, finding substitutes and recycling them are ways for getting rid of them.
* Carbon dioxide
- The amount of carbon dioxide produced can be reduced by imposing a carbon tax. The amount of carbon dioxide
can also be reduced by replacing fossil fuels with non-polluting forms of energy such as hydro-electric and solar power. Reafforestation is another effective way.
* Methane
- Reducing methane involves changing certain farming practices such as replacing rice farming with other kinds of crop cultivation. This change may be difficult for some nations where rice is an important food crop. Reducing methane may also mean replacing cattle farming with an alternative.
* Nitrous Oxide
- The amount of nitrous oxide can be reduced by cutting down on the use of nitrogen-based fertilisers. For instance, instead of using nitrogen-based fertilisers, natural fertilisers can be used. The amount of nitrous oxide can also be reduced by burning less fossil fuels and fewer trees.
