Copper can be extracted from its oreby heating it with carbon. Impurecopper is purified by electrolysis in which the anode is impure copper, the cathode is pure copper, and the electrolyte is copper sulphate solution.

copper is extracted from its sulphide ore i.e. Copper Pyrite(Cu2S) by heating it in presence of oxygen.
2Cu2s+3O2--> 2Cu + 2SO2
