Answer:

Palampur is a small village to study about the distribution of land, labour force and capital in rural areas of India. Farming is the main production activity in Palampur. 75 per cent people are dependent on farming here. But unfortunately not all people involved in agriculture have sufficient land for cultivation.

There are 60 families of medium and large farmers who cultivate more than 2 hectares of land. A few of the large farmers have land over 10 hectares or more. Here one third of the 450 families are landless. It means 150 families, who are mainly dalits have no land for cultivation. Other 240 families cultivate small plots of land less than 2 hectares, which does not bring adequate income for their family.
