50  g pulverized copper sulfatepentahydrate are dissolved with 27 g ammonium sulfate in 250 ml of warm water, to which 10 drops of 6 N sulfuric acid have been added. The solution should be warm but not to boil. This warm solution is filtered and the filtrate is placed in a crystallizing dish covered with a glass plate and allowed to stand overnight. The nex day the cover is removed and water is slowly removed by evaporation until a satisfactory yield has been obtained. This usually requires about 4 days. Crystallization also could be initiated by adding seed crystals.  The solution is decanted and the crystals of ammonium cupric sulfate hexahydrate are washed with a little amount of cold distilled water, and finally dried thoroughly, at room temperature. The double salt tends to effloresce, and the crystals should be transferred to a stoppered bottle as soon as they are dry.
