The three main products are

• Coke - It is almost a pure form of coal and carbon. It contains 90% carbon. It as a reducing agent in the extraction of metals from their ores.

• Coal tar - It is a thick black liquid having an unpleasant smell. Coal tar is almost consider a kind of petroleum. It used in fertiliser, explosions, photographic materials etc.

• Coal gas - It is a liquid gas. Nowadays the use of coal gas is reduced due to assumption in technology. It was used previously for lighting up the street lamps .
