Fertilization occurs with the fusion of two gametes, usually from different individuals, restoring the diploid state.Diploid-Dominant Life Cycle: Inanimals, sexually-reproducing adults form haploid gametes from diploidgerm cells. Fusion of the gametes gives rise to a fertilized egg cell, or zygote.

the gametes are haploid so during fertilization when the male and female haploid gametes fuses It results into the formation of diploid zygote..
