50% of India's agriculture is under Rainfed farming system. Dry land farming is different from other types especially Rainfed farming in that :
It has less than 750 mm of rainfall while the other type of farming has more than 750 mm. There is moisture shortage in the former whereas the latter has sufficient moisture for good productivity. Dry land farming comes under regions with arid and semi-arid conditions and uplands of sub-humid and humid regions. The cropping system for Dry land farming is single crop while Rainfed farming supports inter cropping and double cropping. Soil conservation, quality of produce, disposal are other issues that are faced in Dry land agriculture.
