In dry land farming ,crops are grown based on the available soil moisture and the anticipated rain fall during the crop season. Many a times the crop is subjected severe moisture stress due to erratic monsoon and sometimes the same will result in total failure of the crop. Farmers adopt dry land farming due to lack of irrigation facilities. Irrigated farming is taken up where ever there is an assured source of irrigation and normally percentage of crop failures are minimum.since crops are raised under assured irrigation, one can reap a good harvest as per the indicated potential of the variety. In dry land agiculture ,one can raise crop during monsoon based on the established rainfall pattern where as in irrigated farming one has to look at the irrigation source and factors like length of day light and snow fall etc.
