Take any object that is a good conductor of electricity like iron nail, soft iron( iron with no impurities, etc
Take a electric wire and wound in around the iron nail like a coil.
Keep some iron dust near the prepared electromagnet
Now connect it to source of electricity.
You will notice as soon current starts flowing the iron dust sticks to the iron nail and when you stop the flow of current then the iron dust drops down
This is your electromagnet or temporary magnet as it becomes magnetic only when the current passes through it.

Answer:
you'll need a source of electricity, a conductor, and metal. Wrap insulated copper wire tightly around an iron screw or nail before connecting the wire to a battery, and watch as your new electromagnet picks up small metal objects.
