Heavier, negatively charged particles sink to the bottom of the cloud. When the positive and negative charges grow large enough, a giant spark - lightning - occurs between the two charges within the cloud. This is like a static electricity sparks you see, but much bigger.

Answer:
follow me
Explanation:
As they collide, they build up static electricity, with positively charged particles at the top of the cloud and negatively charged particles at the bottom. Lightning occurs when these two charges grow big enough and spark either within the cloud, or down to connect with the positive charge from the ground.
