how is energy generated in a nuclear fission reaction? why is the large scale use of nuclear energy prohibitive

in nuclear fission heavy nucleus of a radioactive atom splits up into 2 smaller nuclei when bombarded with low energy neutrons. it produces tremendous amount of energy. 
when uranium 235 is bombarded nucleus breaks up into krypton 94  and barium 139.it is used for generating electricity at nuclear power plant.

if we continuously  bombard the nucleus then the energy produced is uncontrollable and leads to explosion.thus large scale use of nuclear energy is prohibitive
