This reaction is known as nuclear fission, converts hydrogen atoms into helium. The by - product of the fission is sun's core is a massive volume of energy that gets released and radiates outwards towards the surface of the sun and than into solar system beyond it.

HYDROGEN and HELIUM are the predominent gases that constitute the sun, in proportion of 3:1.

The core of the sun acts like a giant nuclear reactor and converts huge quantity of H into He. In this process of nuclear fusion, the sun produces tremendous amount of energy in all directions.
