Hey mate here is ur queries....

The equal genetic contribution of male and female parents is ensured in the progeny by sexual reproduction. The male gamete, sperm, fertilizes the female gamete, egg to form a zygote. Both, sperm and egg are haploid but when they form a zygote, the zygote becomes diploid (haploid+ haploid), having 23 chromosomes from mother and 23 from father i.e. half the chromosome number comes from the mother and the other half comes from the father. Thus the genetic contribution of male and female parent is ensured in the progeny in this way.

Hope this will help you..

equal genetic contribution of male and female parents ensured in the progeny because of following reason:

  • male parent have a pair of sex chromosomes  or can say male parent have 1 X and 1 Y chromosomes which denoted as 'XY', and therefore known as XY chromosome .
  • while female parent have a pair of sex chromosome or can say female parent have 2 X chromosome denoted as 'XX', and therefore known as XX chromosome.
  • These XX and XY chromosomes are involved in forming the progeny.
  • both the chromosomes of male parents i.e, X and Y are involved in the process of forming the progeny as well as the X  chromosome of female parent is involved.
  • if the cross between male and female parent is made and the result formed by crossing of X from female and Y from male then the progeny will be male .
  • while if the cross between male and female parents is done and the result formed by crossing X from female and Y from male then the progeny will be female.
