Answer: Ethanol is converted into ethanoic acid by adding oxidising agent.

Example Reaction: Ch₃-Ch₂-OH + CrO₃ ⇒ Ch₃-COOH

(where, CrO₃ is a mild oxidising agent which oxidises 1* alcohol to Carboxyllic acid.)
