1): a solid dehydrating agent

C2h5oh ----al2o3---> c2h4 +h20

2): using h2so4

C2h50h ----h2so4----> c2h4+h20

170℃

Hope it helps!!!!

Ethene production from ethanol

1. From solid dehydrating agent:

  • Al_2O_3 is a solid dehydrating agent.
  • At 300°С in presence of Al_2O_3 as catalyst, ethanol gets converted into ethene and water.
  • The balanced chemical equation involved in the reaction is as follows:

C_2H_5OH\rightarrow C_2H_4+H_2O

2. From Concentrated Sulfuric acid:

  • When ethanol is heated at 170°С, in the presence of Conc. Sulfuric acid as catalyst, it gets converted into ethene.
  • The balanced chemical equation involved in the reaction as follows:

C_2H_5OH + H_2SO_4\rightarrow C_2H_4+H_2O
