The ethnic composition of this small country is very complex.

  1. Of the countries total population 59 per cent speak Dutch language and lives in flemish region.
  2. Another 40 per cent of the population speaks French language and lives in wallonia region.
  3. Remaining 1 per cent of the population speaks German in Belgium.
  4. Brussels, the capital of the Belgium 80 per cent of the population speaks French and 20 per cent of the population speaks Dutch

1. the constitution was amended 4 times between 1964- 1970 so that a better place could be provided to people to live.

2. equal no. of ministers were chosen from both the communities.

3. equal representation was done. french agreed to have equal representation because the dutch agreed to have representation in belgium.

4. more powers were given to the state govt. the state govt. was not under central govt.

5. a community govt. was made which had power to take decision based on language, culture and education.
