Federalism in India is practised by the creation of linguistic states ,language policy and centre state relations. Linguistic states:- in 1947 ,the boundaries of several old states were changed in order to create new states . This was done to ensure that people who spoke the same language lived in the same state .

Federalism is practiced by following of Linguistic states, which is the first. Linguistic state meaning that after independence there was a lot of change in the geographical area and boundary to create a new state, so the people among them were distributed or placed as such that they shared same culture, language, ethics, etc. The other thing was language, where no language is called as a National language although hindi is an optional language. There are 22 more languages spoken in the country. Improving the Central-State relation is one of the aspects to strengthen federalism.
