They take in oxygen dissolved in water through small pores in lnside there body.. Hence, they are also known as sponges.

Hi dear

Through out the body of the sponge run canals that may be termed as canal system or sponge system which is unique in them. The canals have openings to the outside which are called pores which allows the circulation of water throughout the body and bring in food and oxygen.
