Here's your answer
Amoeba takes in food using temporary finger like extension (called pseudopodia) of the cell surface which fuses over the food particle forming a food vacuole. Inside the food vacuole, complex substances are broken down into simpler ones which then diffuses into the cytoplasm.
Thus, this is how 'ingestion' takes place in Amoeba.
