1)buffer stock- this is created to distribute foodgrains in the deficit area and among poorer section of the society at a price lower than the market price

2)public distribution system: the food stored in buffer stock is distributed through government regulated ration shops among the poorer section of the society.thia is called public distribution system (PDS). food grains ,kerosene oil, etc. are solid in these ration shops at the price lower than the market price
