In India food security is ensure through its two components:

i) buffer stock: in cases of scarcity of food this food grains are distributed in the affected areas among the underprivileged sections of the society at lower prices. This also resolve the problem of food scarcity during unfavourable weather conditions.

ii) Public Distribution system: The food bought by the FCI is disseminated through government regulated ration shops among the poorer section of the society.

1. food security is ensured in india if enough food is available for all the person's , all persons have the capacity to buy food of acceptable quality and there is no barrier on access to food.

2. India has become self sufficient in food grains during the last thirty years because of a variety of crops grown all over the country.

3. The availability of the food grains at the country level has further been ensured with a food security system by government this system has two components 1. buffer stock and public distribution system (PDS).
