Public Distribution System (PDS) is an Indian food security system.In India food security is ensure through its two components: i) buffer stock: in cases of scarcity of food this food grains are distributed in the affected areas among the underprivileged sections of the society at lower prices. This also resolve the problem of food scarcity during unfavourable weather conditions.
