How is genetic manipulation helpful in agricultural practices ?

Genetic manipulationis a process where the gene for a particular character is introduced inside the chromosome of a cell. When the gene for a particular character is introduced in a plant cell, a transgenic plant is produced. These transgenic plants exhibit characters governed by the newly introduced gene.

These conditions are based on weather, soil quality and water resources availability. Since weather conditions are unpredictable such as drought and flooding situations, therefore, crop varieties have been developed that can be grown in diverse climatic conditions.

Genetic manipulation is a process in which genes of desirable characters are taken from a plant and transferred to another plant by the technique of hybridisation. Genetic manipulation helps in obtaining desirable agronomic characters liked Dwarfness in cereals and tallness and profuse branching in fodder crops.
