Geothermal energy is produced by the earth. As the deep layers of the earth is very hot so it heats the ground water in the aquifer above it due to which the water becomes hot. Hot water produces steam and the steam is used to generate electricity.

Hot water springs are found in Parvati valley in himachal Pradesh etc.
