Global warming is not a treat to the environment. Instead, it is a threat to the environment.

The green house gases like methane and carbon-dioxide trap sun's heat energy so that the earth doesn't become freezing cold at night. However, when the concentration of these gases increases in the atmosphere, the temperature of the earth increases because now, more heat energy is retained.

This increase in temperature of the earth can pose various problems like

  • melting of glaciers
  • rise in sea levels
  • frequent flooding of coastal areas
  • climatic imbalance etc.
