From a biological standpoint, non-living things, like a crystal, grow as a result of materials being added to the exterior surface. Living things, however, grow from the inside, out.

Answer:

In crystal growth is external while in body, growth is internal. Substances are taken from environment and are added to the growth of crystal while in body the substances taken are converted in to other forms. In crystals, growth pattern is uniform while in body growth is different in different parts of the body. In crystal, growth can be reversed while in body growth cannot be reversed.
