How is human environment dependent upon natural environment? Explain with example
Answers
The Republican Legislature is once again claiming that a clean and healthful environment is an enemy of prosperity. They are minions of the extractive and other polluting industries, trying to remove statutes and even constitutional provisions that limit the damage these fictitious “persons” we call corporations can do.
The “environment” is a life community that supports all species, including humans. This life community cleans the air and water, and grows all the food. All of this life community, from microbe to moose, is mutually dependent on and mutually enhancing of the whole. By contrast, corporations are “undead” agglomerations of money and legal paperwork. If they were people, they would be psychopaths, focused only on short-term self-aggrandizement (ever-increasing profit).
When the waters and air are polluted, the whole community is polluted, including human bodies. When the vitality of the soil and the diversity of the community are diminished-by development and climate change, for instance-there is less food for the whole community.
The human economy and well-being are dependent entirely on the productivity and health of the living community. How foolish to set them in opposition to one another! How reckless to build the human economy by diminishing our life community!
