illiteracy is one of the major problem of India . more than half of the Indian population is still illiterate. illiteracy leads to poverty.
educated parents provide their children with the best possible education.these children in turn helps in the economic development of the family as well as the country. on the other hand illiterate parent considers unnecessary to waste money on education and engage their children in manual labor at a very early age.
2)illiteracy also leads to population growth as people think that more children means more income. the excessive growth of population puts heavy pressure on the natural resources. this increases the demand rate and decreases is supply rate which also contributes to poverty

And one need education for basic knowledge to lead a better quality of life. Thus, illiteracy is also responsible for poverty in india.
