secularism in India means equal treatment of all religions by the state.42nd amendment of the constitution of India enacted in 1976, the preamble of the constitution asserted that India is a secular nation.However,niether India's constitution nor its laws define the relationship between religion and state.

India is a secular country as there is no state religion in India.People can follow any religion they wish to follow.Everyone is equal in the eyes of the government.There is no discrimination on the basis caste, creed , religion etc.
