India is an important country from point of agriculture due to following reasons:

1) Source of livelihood- Nearly two third of India's population is engaged in agricultural activities

2) Food security- It ensures food security in India i.e., it produces most of the food that we consume.

3) Contribution to GDP- Agriculture contributes a major share in the Gross Domestic Product.
